Nagpur: At 8.9 degrees Celsius in the wee hours of Tuesday, the city recorded lowest temperature of the season, as per Indian Meteorological Department (IMD). It is also the first time in the season that the temperature has gone below 10 degrees Celsius. Until now the lowest temperature was 10.3 degrees, recorded on December 4.
Gondia at 8 degrees C was coldes in entire Vidarbha on Tuesday morning. For much of this season, Gondia has been coldest place in the region closely followed by city.
Meanwhile, Chandrapur was recorded as warmest district of the region at 11.6 degree C. None of the districts crossed 12 degree in the corresponding time - Akola was at 9.8 degrees, Amravati at 11.6, Buldhana at 11.5, Brahmapuri at 8.9, Chandrapur at 11.6, Wardha at 9.5, Washim at 10 and Yavatmal at 10.4.
The cold night had also brought down the maximum temperature on Tuesday which went down by about 1 degree in every district.
As per IMD, the temperature is not likely to go down further. While haze prevails in the atmosphere, weather is expected to be partly cloudy on December 20 and 21, and the minimum temperature is likely to be around 8 and 9 degrees respectively.
As per IMD forecast, night temperature till December 25 is expected to hover between 8 and 9 degree. The day temperature is expected to decline with each day. Starting from 29 degree, it will go down to 28 degree by December 22 and then to 27 degrees by December 24.
No significant change in maximum and minimum temperatures is expected over Madhya Pradesh, Chhatisgarh and Vidarbha during next 2-3 days, while air will mostly be dry over the three regions.
