The Daily Beast reported Uresti is accused of making inappropriate comments toward women and groping them.

"He was super flirtatious. He put his hands on my thigh, and I kept trying to bring the conversation back to work stuff," one woman told the Daily Beast of a night out for happy hour drinks with Uresti. After Uresti walked the woman to her car, "he put his tongue down my throat," she said. "I don't remember how long it was or even if I said anything. I think I pushed him off and got in my car."

Uresti told the Daily Beast the allegations were "unfounded."

U.S. Rep. Blake Farenthold, R-Texas

Farenthold, who represents Corpus Christi, Victoria and areas near Austin, used $84,000 of taxpayers dollars to settle a sexual harassment claim made in 2014, Politico reported. Farenthold announced Dec. 14, 2017 he would not seek re-election following a CNN report where a former aide said the congressman called his staff "f--ktards."

CNN reported Farenthold would make sexually lewd comments toward his staffers, according to a former aide. Farenthold denied ever making sexually explicit comments but admitted he did call aides "f--ktards," CNN reported.

Former president George H.W. Bush

The former president, who also served as a U.S. Representative for Texas' 7th congressional district from 1967 to 1971, is accused of groping at least seven women, the Associated Press reported. 

Actress Jordana Grolnick told CNN the former president asked if she knew who his favorite magician was. 

"David Cop-a-Feel," Bush allegedly said and then grabbed Grolnick's buttocks, CNN reported.

Through his spokesman, Bush has apologized to "anyone he has offended," according to CNN.

Sexual misconduct by those in positions of power is so widespread, it seems, the issue has impacted most entities,including the lawmakers representing Texans in congress and in the state legislature.

The New York Times first reported in October that movie producer Harvey Weinstein was accused of harassing and assaulting dozens of women over multiple decades. Since then, dozens of men in Hollywood, media, politics and other fields have been accused of sexual harassment and assault.

Women began sharing their stories of being harassed or assaulted on social media using the hashtag "#MeToo." TIME Magazine named the "silence breakers" the people of year for speaking out on sexual misconduct.

Since women and men have come forward with stories of sexual assault and harassment, at least five current or former Texas lawmakers have been accused of sexual misconduct.
