Police divers find man's body in river after fatal jump from Como Railway Bridge in Sydney
Updated

Police divers have found the body of a 23-year-old man who was seen struggling in the water after jumping off the Como Railway Bridge in Sydney's South earlier today.
Emergency services were called to the scene just north of the Como Marina at 1:35pm after multiple triple-zero calls about a person in trouble in the water.
Divers found the man's body after 4:00pm.
NSW Ambulance Chief Inspector John Brotherhood said it was initially reported to emergency services there was a young child in the water, but they discovered on the scene it was a man.
"He apparently came up for a brief time onto the surface and was in difficulty and went down again and they haven't been able to locate him since," he said earlier.
Bystanders were assisting police.
Chief Inspector Brotherhood said that jumping off the railway bridge was a popular but very dangerous pastime in the area.
He advised people to check for unseen debris, branches and rocks before jumping into any body of water.
