London road placed on LOCKDOWN in suspected firearms incident

POLICE in London closed off a major road as a man was arrested on suspicion of possessing firearms.

NICKED: A man has been arrested on suspicion of possessing firearms

East India Dock Road, near Canary Wharf in east London, was blocked both ways due to the “significant police incident”.

Dramatic pictures show several police cars on the scene as cops descend on a property in Tower Hamlets. 

The Metropolitan Police said: “A man has been arrested in East India Dock Road during a pre-planned operation.

“At around 14.20pm on Tuesday, December 19, officers stopped a car in East India Dock Road.

“A man was arrested on suspicion of possession of firearms.”

The police are not treating the incident as terror related and the London Underground has not been affected.

Transport for London tweeted around 4pm: “A13 East India Dock Road is flowing well both ways at Upper North St after earlier police incident.”
