HYDERABAD: Noted author Vanam Jwala Narasimha Rao felt that Telugu language used by media should reflect the dialects of all the three regions in the Telugu land. “Our language has mainly three dialects—Telangana, Rayalaseema and Andhra. As all newspapers and news channels reach the Telugu people living the three areas, my view is that we should use the Telugu expressions used in the three regions by commoners in the language of media,” he said.
Narasimha Rao, who is also CPRO to the chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, debunked the argument that Telugu language is on the verge of extinction. While taking part in a debate on the subject, “Telugu language in media” here on Monday, as part of World Telugu Conference, the noted author emphasised the need to use standard Telugu language in the media. He, however, said steps also should be taken to enrich the TS dialect in the Telugu language.
“Awards are being given on the names of male poets and writers. The government should also take steps to institute awards on the name of female writers to encourage talented women poets,” Jupaka Subhadra said, during “Mahila Kavi Sammelanam,” at Ravindra Bharathi.
Prez to attend valedictory session
The World Telugu Conference will come to an end on Tuesday evening. President Ramnath Kovind will attend the valedictory session of the conference to be held at L B Stadium here at 5 pm on the same day. Chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao had already disclosed that he would announce some giant steps to further protect and promote the Telugu language.
