AJMAN: Ajman Police have arrested a gang of four GCC nationals who stole five cars and two motorcycles from various areas in Ajman.
According to Major Mohamed Yafoor Al Ghafly, Deputy Director of the Criminal Investigation Department of Ajman Police, the police received various notifications regarding the robbery of cars whose owners reported the vehicles were stolen after being parked in front of their homes.
“We have immediately formed an investigation team from the CID to launch a probe and investigations revealed the identity of the suspects. Two among the burglars around whom suspicion revolved were arrested at Al Muwaihait area. When confronted they confessed to robbing cars in connivance with other partners and that they robbed the motorcycles from motorcycle repair shops. The two arrested suspects led the police to their accomplices and their whereabouts and they were arrested. On confrontation they confessed to stealing the cars and motorcycles for personal use for a while and after using them they used to park them in random areas.”
Based on their confession, the suspects have been detained and will be referred to the Public Prosecution. The stolen cars and motorbikes were returned to their owners.
“We are urging motorists to secure their cars and ensure they are always locked. They should never park them in remote or deserted areas as such cars are an easy target for robbers. They should also install anti-theft alarms.”
