A 17-year-old teen has been arrested and charged with murder after a man's body was found on the side of a road in Hawke's Bay yesterday.

Detective Inspector Mike Foster said he is due to appear in Hastings District Court this morning.

The body was found on the side of Matahorua Road, Tutira.

Foster said formal identification of the victim was still being carried out, however they are confident they know who the victim is and are liaising with his family.

Police were at the scene until late last night carrying out an examination and speaking to people who are assisting with enquiries.

Police would still like to speak with anyone who was in the Matahorua Road/Shine Falls area over the weekend or yesterday morning.
