Baseball players are still getting injured in unexpected ways, and it's starting earlier than we're used to.
Rangers pitcher Martin Perez is expected to miss significant time after he suffered the offseason's first bizarre baseball injury last week.
According to SportsDay Rangers beat writer Evan Grant, Perez suffered a fractured radial head in his non-pitching elbow after an incident with a bull in Venezuela and had surgery.
Grant went on to say that Perez suffered the injury when a bull startled him, causing him to fall on his elbow.
Rangers spokesperson John Blake confirmed that the injury is expected to sideline Perez for about four months.
Last offseason, Royals pitcher Brian Flynn continued baseball's tradition of getting injured in weird ways when he fell through a roof. Perez's bizarre injury had that timing beat by two months.
