A Massachusetts grocery store employee is bringing holiday cheer to busy shoppers with his jaw-dropping renditions of classic Christmas carols.

Gilly Assuncao, who works at Russo's in Watertown, Mass., told ABC he was a singer before moving to the U.S. two years ago. Assuncao, who is originally from Brazil, said not many people know about his singing past, until Russo's began posting his performances on Facebook.

"Gilly’s incredible performance during shopping today," Russo's said in a Facebook post. "Our employee’s talent brought tears to our eyes."

One of the owners’ daughters, Karen Russo, told ABC that during the holidays they always have live opera and Christmas songs performed in the store. On Friday night, as the musical act the store hired, checked their sound, Assuncao took the microphone.

“I hear this incredible operatic sound coming from the greenhouse,” Christina Russo, another daughter, told ABC News.

Russo said the employees stood and watched in awe as Assuncao sang.

And as for aspiration? Assuncao, 23, hopes to one day attend Berklee College of Music in Boston, ABC reported.
