A new animated TV series parodying the Trump presidency will have an early preview before its premiere Sunday, Feb. 11, on Showtime. The pay cable network released a teaser-trailer today for “Our Cartoon President,” which you can see below.
The show, which has a 10-episode order, comes from Stephen Colbert. The first episode will roll out across multiple platforms online and on demand on Sunday, January 28.
The series is executive produced by Colbert, his “Late Show” executive producer Chris Licht and showrunner R.J. Fried.
In today’s announcement Showtime said the series “will follow the tru-ish misadventures of the 45th President of the United States, Donald J. Trump, and his merry band of advisors and family members. R.J. Fried will serve as executive producer and showrunner. Tim Luecke will serve as lead animator and co-executive producer. Matt Lappin will serve as consulting producer.”
The half-hour show’s linear premiere is set for Feb. 11 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on Showtime, before the 9 p.m. season premiere of “Homeland.”
“In this parallel cartoon universe, the Commander-in-Chief opens the White House doors for an ‘all access’ look at a typical day in the life of the President of the United States,” Showtime says in today’s announcement. “‘Our Cartoon President’ examines the quintessentially Trumpian details of the presidency and his most important relationships, and no one is safe — from his close family and confidants to key political figures from both parties and members of the media.”
