The Gadsden/Etowah County Emergency Management Agency is in the process of updating the county’s Hazard Mitigation Plan and Threat and Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment.
The documents allow GECEMA to increase awareness about the threats, hazards and vulnerabilities the county faces, according to a press release from the agency.
“They also serve as conditions for receiving certain types of non-emergency disaster assistance,” said Breonna Cole, GECEMA public information officer. “In order to make effective changes to these plans we are requesting critical feedback from our community. We will be handing out short surveys on preparedness throughout the area.

“Together we can ensure that Etowah County is prepared for any emergency situation that may arise,” Cole said.
