Gujarat verdict raises question over PM Modi's credibility: Rahul Gandhi
In his first reactions to the Gujarat results, Congress President Rahul Gandhi said that the party had managed to give the BJP a massive jolt in the state, adding that the results had put a big question mark on Prime Minister Narendra Modi's credibility.

"Gujarat has given me a lot of love. It taught me that Opposition's anger and money power can be defeated easily by love," said Gandhi.

Terming 'Gujarat Model' as nothing but propaganda, Gandhi said, "When we went to Gujarat three months ago, it was said that the Congress cannot stand against BJP. But we have given a tough fight. The results are good for us."

Attacking Modi, he said, "PM Modi never talked about development and GST in his election campaigns but now says that its victory of development and a stamp on the GST policy."

Talking of credibility, he said while Modi spoke "non-stop" about corruption, he never uttered a word about Jay Shah (BJP chief Amit Shah's son) or Rafale fighter jet deal, which the Congress claims was against the country's interest and encouraged crony capitalism.

"The country wants to know that you talked non-stop of corruption. Jay Shah, son of Amit Shah, turned Rs 50,000 into 80 crore in three months, there has been a scam in Rafale deal, why don't you talk of this. This is the credibility issue," he said.

Rahul also congratulated the BJP and thanked the voters of Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh for their support to Congress.

The BJP won 99 seats as compared to 115 in 2012, and far lower than the 150-plus seats it had hoped for. Congress, on the other hand, has improved its tally from 61 in 2012 to 80 this year.
