KARWAR : After two weeks of continual protests and violence, Honnavar town has not yet returned to normalcy. Many shops remained closed on Monday too and people were scared to walk freely in the town. On Monday, some like-minded people submitted a memorandum to Kumta assistant commissioner Laxmipriya demanding restoration of peace and harmony in the town.]
They said following the death of Paresh Mesta in Honnavar, people of Kumta took out a peace march in the town, during which, a car of another community member came in front of the procession. A few angry people felted stones at the car which led to violence. They demanded that the authorities take steps to stop harassment on Hindus, investigate the death of Paresh Mesta in Honnavar impartially and withdraw cases filed against the protesters.
