Two more victims of a multi-car crash in Birmingham in which six people were killed have been identified by police.

Kasar Jehangir, 25, and Mohammed Fasha, 30, are understood to have been travelling in an Audi with Tauqeer Hussain, 26, who was also killed.

A fourth man, aged 22, was seriously injured when the car hit a taxi in the early hours of Sunday. He remains in a critical condition at the city's Queen Elizabeth Hospital.

The driver of the taxi, father-of-six Imtiaz Mohammed, along with a man aged 42 and a 43-year-old woman, died after the vehicle was smashed on to its side.

Mr Mohammed, 33, described by relatives as a "happy, loving and friendly guy", was on his last job before heading home to his wife and family, according to his brother.

It is understood Mr Jehangir, Mr Fasha and Mr Hussain were thrown from the Audi S3 in the crash in Birmingham city centre.

The crash happened at Belgrave and Lee Bank Middleway, near Edgbaston, at the junction of Bristol Road.

An investigation into the cause is underway, including into the condition of the road.

Mr Jehangir was jailed in November 2016 after he was involved in a 130mph police chase, according to reports.

Heroin was thrown from the vehicle as it was pursued along the M6 near Walsall on 18 July 2015.

Superintendent Sean Phillips, from West Midlands Police, told a news conference: "It is way too early to speculate on the causes of the accident.

"It will take some time to unpick the scene and just understand exactly what's happened. It would be unfair for me to speculate at this time."

He confirmed the road had been gritted at 5pm the previous evening.

Mr Phillips said the speed the vehicles were travelling at and whether all of those involved were wearing seat belts will be considered during the investigation.

The Ambulance Service said it dealt with 13 patients in total following the pile up. Three other cars collided as they tried to avoid the scene at the entrance to the underpass.
