A White House national security spokesman said he couldn't confirm whether President Trump had read "every line and every word" of the administration's new strategy document unveiled Monday.
"I can't say that he's read every line and every word. He certainly had the document, the entire — throughout the process and has been briefed on it," Michael Anton told CNN Monday.
"Remember, this document specifically is based on his words. It's based on his campaign speeches and his major speeches this year," he added.

Trump said on Monday during prepared remarks delivered in Washington, D.C., the 68-page manifesto outlined four pillars intended to guide U.S. foreign policy in the Trump era.
The pillars in the congressionally mandated document include protecting the homeland, promoting American prosperity, preserving peace through strength, and advancing American influence.
"The president has been involved in the drafting of it from the beginning," Anton said.
"He's been presented with sections of it over the past many months and was briefed on the final document several weeks ago, and then the president himself personally led the presentation of the document to his cabinet only about a week ago," he continued.
