Mahout records highest rainfall of 143mm in three days








Muscat - 

Heavy rainfall occurred at a number of governorates of the sultanate as a result of low pressure from Friday till Sunday causing a number of wadis to overflow and water levels to rise in many dams. 

Rainfall monitoring stations under the Ministry of Regional Municipalities and Water Resources (MRMWR) recorded the highest rainfall of 143mm in Mahout in Al Wusta, followed by Samail (114mm) in Dakhliyah, Khasab (92mm) in Musandam, Quriyat (92mm) in Muscat, Mudhaibi (50mm) in North Sharqiyah, Rustaq (45mm) in South Batinah, Sohar (37mm) in North Batinah, Sur (17mm) in South Sharqiyah and Ibri (16mm) in Dhahirah. The groundwater recharge dams held 3.342mn m3 of water.

In Quriyat, the Wadi Dayqah Dam held 1.1mn m3 to reach the total capacity of 47.8mn m3. In the wilayat of Izki, Amti Dam was full with 0.29mn m3. In Khasab, the Khub Shamsi Dam was full with 0.715mn m3. In Amerat, the upper Al Sarin Dam held 0.772mn m3. In Al Qabil, the Al Nab’a dam held 0.243mn m3 and Wadi Ghoul dam in Al Hamra wilayat held 0.2226mn m3.
