GURUGRAM: The Haryana City Gas (HCG) clarified on Sunday that it is in the process of covering almost all sectors in the city as far as PNG connections are concerned, but they accepted that it will take some more time to get into the internal areas.
"We are expanding in phases. Though technically, we issue connections within three months of receiving an application, but then there is also hurdles in acquiring permission for digging , which is not an easy job," said Rahul Chopra, CEO, HCG.

The clarification comes after TOI carried a report on December 15, 2017, regarding how residents in many parts of the city are yet to receive a PNG connection.

TOI spoke to many residents who are irritated with HCG as there has been no communication from their side regarding connections and that the company has left pits open, which they had dug for laying down pipelines for the connection.

Though HCG officials couldn't immediately furnish details of areas where they are yet to provide service, but residents from sectors 21, 22 and 14 have complained about it. Residents of sectors 5, 6 and 3 also don't have connections as of yet.

"We have no pipelines in our sectors yet. They should lay the network first and only then they will get consumers. If we get a chance to have PNG connection why would we decline? It is a cheaper option," said Dinesh Vashishta, RWA president, sectors 5, 6 and 3.
