Unlike previous years when New Year days were welcomed wrapped in thick blanket of fog, weathermen believe that the upcoming New Year day is expected to be welcomed on a warmer note.
Weather Scientist BK Mondal said on Sunday that though morning and evening temperature might fall down slightly, there is no sign of fall in maximum temperature for some days which has stayed at around 25 Degree Celsius from some days around mid-December.
“This phenomenon of unexpected high maximum temperature around end of the year is unexpected, but not unusual. Until we see wind pattern changing from near Afghanistan boarder and even beyond around Caspian Sea, which may take 4-5 days to leave its impact in northern states once arisen, the days are expected to remain as bright with mornings and evenings turning little colder in many parts of State,” said Mondal.
He added that the winter in its literal term might appear only after calendar is changed. “This will definitely leave tourist spots in and around Ranchi and other parts of State also witnessing high footfall of tourists on New Year day,” said Mondal.
Maximum temperature in Ranchi on Sunday was recorded at 24.2 Degree Celsius with minimum temperature at 11.2 Degree Celsius, said the department. On the other hand, Jamshedpur is sweating in winter with maximum temperature on the day remaining above 28 Degree Celsius. Notably, maximum temperature in both the cities remained around their respective readings on Sunday.
