Police launch investigations after arrest of Meetiyagoda suspect

An individual was arrested in Meetiyagoda, for the alleged possession of weapons. He is to be produced before the Balapitiya Magistrate today, December 18.

The suspect was arrested yesterday, December 17, following a tip-off over suspicious behaviour. A locally-manufactured revolver and live ammunition was discovered in his possession.

According to our correspondent, police are investigating in order to ascertain whether the suspect is involved in the murders carried out in the in Meetiyagoda area recently.

The suspect is a 32 year old resident of Meetiyagoda.
