Unable to cope with financial stress, a 58-year-old mother and her married son allegedly committed suicide by consuming pesticide here on Monday, the police said. The duo consumed the chemical in the morning and died while being shifted to Hyderabad for emergency care. The woman, Sukka Maramma, 58, and her son Yadaiah, 38, of Velmakanne village, were reeling under severe financial stress after their four-acre cotton crop failed. Adding to it, Yadaiah’s wife, who suffered from a physical disability, also required medicines and timely treatment, which they couldn’t afford, the police said. Bodies of the duo were handed over to relatives and Yadaiah’s wife was waiting for support from her maternal home.
