Chennai: Kreishh Gurbaxani of Maharashtra stunned former World and Asian billiards champion Rupesh Shah of PSPB 4-2 in the qualifying rounds of the Phoenix Serene Spaces seventh National 6-Red snooker championship here on Monday.
Though Rupesh started well by winning the first frame, Kreishh retaliated strongly to dominate the next two frames with good safety play.
Rupesh levelled it but the match drifted away from him as Kreishh won the next two frames to enter the qualifying match for the group stages.
Alok Kumar, I.H. Manudev and Aditya Agarwal all won their matches comfortably.
The top four players in this tournament will be directly selected without any camp for the Asian 6-Red championship to be held next year.
