Mumbai: In latest development regarding the murder case of anchor Arpita Tiwari, the Malvani police is likely to conduct a lie detector test on the two men detained in connection with the alleged murder of Arpita Tiwari (24) after it failed to make any headway in the case a week after her death. The two men detained for questioning in the case include the deceased’s boyfriend, Pankaj Jadhav (30) and his male friend, Amit Kumar (29).

The cops have also enquired with the neighbours of her boyfriend’s friends at Malwani’s Manavsthal building, who said that they could only guess that there was a party in progress on Sunday night with loud music playing but couldn’t comment on whether or not the couple was fighting, reported The Asian Age.

Sources said that the two men who have been detained have been making stories since Monday when Tiwari’s body was found on the second floor duct of the building, after she fell from the 15th floor window of a bathroom. The police are suspicious of the statements given by accused and may opt for lie detector test.

The police have so far in their investigation also questioned the people staying in the building, including the neighbours residing on the 15th and 16th floor to ascertain if there were any public fights between the couple.

During the questioning, the neighbours told the police that the couple had visited the flat once or twice in the month, but never did they see any public display of anger coming from Tiwari or Jadhav. When asked about the night of the incident, the neighbours said that loud music was playing in the house and that they did not come across any noise depicting a fight between a couple, said a police source.

Deepak Phatangare, senior police inspector of Malvani police station said, “We are probing the case, and have not given any clean chits to anyone. The finger prints samples have been sent to the Forensic Science Laboratory in Kalina.” Tiwari’s family wants the case to be transferred to the crime branch for further probe.
