NEW YORK: The Peoples Improv Theater has enrolled with STOPit, the leading technology platform for schools and businesses that deters and reports harmful or inappropriate conduct.
STOPit is an easy to use app and web tool that provides a safe and anonymous way to report issues of concern to companies - from sexual harassment to threats of violence or self-harm. At the PIT, STOPit will empower staff, students, and performers to stand up for themselves and others while giving the theater the insight it needs to keep staff, students and performers safe. The launch date is Jan 2018.
Using STOPit, PIT staff, students, and performers will be able to submit anonymous reports to the PIT directly from their mobile phone or any internet connected browser. Once a report is received, The PIT will be able to manage incidents in a backend management system called DOCUMENTit, which provides efficient and powerful investigative tools, including the ability to message with the anonymous reporter and address issues in a timely fashion.
The adoption of STOPit is an important part of The PIT's continued effort to provide positive and safe learning, working, and performing environments for students, staff and performers. The PIT hopes that this proactive step will not only better communication in reporting incidents of sexual harassment or inappropriate behavior, but also deter such behavior by empowering staff, students, and performers to become Upstanders in the community.
