End of the year is just around the corner and people have already started making plans for 31st. Some have purchased passes for various events organized around the city, while some are planning leisure at a house party. Whatever the case, everyone is determined to enter into the New Year with a bang! However, there is a group of people who is not interested in any of these. These people, who like to call themselves IDCians, have organized a party for other people like them who don’t want to do anything on 31st.
According to their party pamphlet, the party will start from 9, 9:30, 10, 10:30, 11 and 11:30. We wanted to know the reason behind these unusual timings, so we got hold of their chief organizer Karthik Shukla. Here’s what he had to say about the event “In case you don’t know, we are IDCians and IDC stands for I Don’t Care.” Our reporter stated that the name is a bit atypical, to which he replied “I Don’t Care. That’s out motto. We don’t care about anything and we don’t want to do anything. Our party is only for those people who have been tortured by their over-enthusiastic friends regarding 31st plans. The newest guy who joined us, he told his friend that he is going to commit suicide on 31st, to which his over enthusiastic and bragging friend replied ‘OK fine. I have passes to this cool party; if your plan gets cancelled, come and join us’.
People don’t understand that THERE ARE people who genuinely don’t want to do anything on 31st. So we have organized a party for such people, in which we will get together and do nothing; literally nothing! People are free to come anytime and free to go anytime, hence the given timings.” Our reporter stated that this is a silly gimmick, to which he replied “I Don’t Care. Everyone else has a Dos and Don’ts list. We IDCians have a Don’ts and Don’ts list. There is no food at our party, no music, no decorations; in fact there isn’t even a fixed venue.” Our reported asked then how will people come to know where to come for the party, to which replied “I Don’t Care.”
So, if you haven’t yet finalized a plan for 31st or you’re one of those who don’t want to do anything on 31st, you know where to go.. Actually, you don’t. No one does since the address isn’t mentioned in the party pamphlet, because, in the words of Karthik, ‘They Don’t Care’.
