Some North East ISD buses may be slightly delayed Monday morning following a fire at the district's north bus terminal, according to district officials.

The fire ignited around 4:30 a.m. inside a maintenance building at the north terminal in the 24000 block of U.S. Highway 281.

Firefighters quickly extinguished the blaze, and no buses were damaged. The disruption may, however, delay certain bus routes.

"All routes will be completed - but some buses that come from the north terminal may be several minutes late to pick up students," said Aubrey Chancellor, director of communications for NEISD, adding most affected routes will be north of Loop 1604.
