Amarinder reviews arrangements for 350th 'Prakash Utsav'

Amarinder Singh today reviewed the arrangements for the celebration of the 350th 'Prakash Utsav' of Guru Gobind Singh, the 10th Sikh Guru, at Sahib on December 24.

The chief minister, who will be attending the celebration, took a series of decisions in consultation with his cabinet colleagues and top officials, whom he had directed to make all arrangements to facilitate the devotees travelling to Sri Sahib as well as Takht Sri Sahib -- the birth place of the 10th Sikh Guru.


Besides waiving entry fee for the for two days (December 24-25), the has decided to run special trains to from Amritsar, and railway stations on December 22, an official release said here.

The trains, which will carry around 1,500 pilgrims each, will have officials, as well as doctors and pharmacists, accompanying the passengers on the journey, it said.

Arrangements for ferrying the devotees from the railway station to the Sahib Gurudwara, as well as their stay, are also being made.

In Punjab, the main event at Sahib would witness a series of programmes, including performances by Bhai Baldeep Singh (exponent of classical Gurbani Kirtan), Punjabi Gurdas Maan, eminent Sikh scholar, and Punjabi Surjit Patar, it added.
