NEW DELHI: Gujarat chief minister
Vijay Rupani on Monday said that the results of the elections in the state were an "endorsement" of Prime Minister
Narendra Modi's policies.
"I would like to give credit for this victory to the people of Gujarat. I also want to give the assurance that in the coming five years, the
BJP will work towards what the people of the state want," he said.
"We will take forward development. We promise that 'vikaas' will move forward even faster in the next five years," he added.
Rupani said that the "mature" political mandate in Gujarat made it stand out as a "role-model" in the country.
He also accused the
Congress of vitiating the state's atmosphere with "caste politics."
Earlier today, Rupani had hailed the BJP's victory in the state as indicative of the people's "faith in the politics of good governance."
