North-East monsoon establishes over island

Met Department says fairly strong gusty winds up to 50kmph can be expected over the island.

A showery condition is expected to enhance in the Northern, North-central, Eastern and Uva provinces during next 2 days, the department said.

Showers will occur at times in the Northern, North-central, Eastern, and Uva provinces and Matale and Hambantota districts.

Showers or thundershowers are expected to occur at several places elsewhere after 2 pm.

Fairly heavy falls above 75mm can be expected in the Northern and Eastern provinces and in the Polonnaruwa and Matale districts.
