Award for SC lawyer

KOCHI: Supreme Court lawyer Shamnad Basheer won the Pirappancode Sreedharan Nair award instituted by the Kerala Lawyers Club.

The award comprises a cash prize of `1 lakh and a memento. Shamnad is a law graduate from the National Law School and has specialised in Intellectual Property Law from the University of Oxford. To encourage legal education among children, he found IDIA (Increasing Diversity by Increasing Access to Legal Education).

He was endowed the Infosys Award in 2014. Born at Kulathupuzha in Kollam, he is also an author and a columnist who writes in national and international newspapers.

The award will be presented on January 6 at the Thiruvananthapuram Bar Association hall. Acting Chief Justice Antony Dominic will inaugurate the event. Ministers G Sudhakaran, K Raju, former Speaker M Vijayakumar and Justice R Rajendra Babu will be present
