Indian orthopaedic hospital, Sancheti Institute for Orthopaedics & Rehabilitation held a special event to celebrate its Foundation Day recently.

H E Indra Mani Pandey, India’s Ambassador to Oman was the chief guest at the event.

The hospital, which was opened on December 12, 1965 in Pune, India, started with 30 beds. It now has 215 beds.

The hospital boasts of 12 super specialty departments such as trauma, neurology, orthopaedics, paediatrics and joint replacement.

Dr K H Sancheti, the founder of the hospital is a recipient of several civilian awards and recognitions in India and abroad.

Dr Sancheti said, “It has been over five decades since we started the hospital in Pune. Ever since then we undertook several operations from all across India and the world.

“When I started, the sector was not well developed and there were no specialties. I had to conduct every operation. But now times have changed and we have specialised colleges and experts who are skilled. My son, Dr Parag too has contributed massively over the years.”

He said that health is the only asset that a man can have in the world.

Dr Sancheti added that the hospital has been in touch with patients from Oman since a few years and hence found the country to be the best place to celebrate this occasion.
