Fraudster denied bail

JAMMU: Sub-Judge Jammu Kusum Pandita on Monday rejected the bail application of Manzoor Ahmed Wani, son of Mohammad Saabir Wani, resident of Reshi, Gund, Tehsil Kralpura District Kupwara, who allegedly duped Rs 60 lakh in the name of providing government jobs.

As per police report, a complaint was received from one Om Parkash that accused who was known to complainant after taking him in confidence that he has good relation with higher officials and can provide job to the son of the complainant in Police Department as Sub-Inspector and he can provide jobs to other people as well on which the complainant convinced some of its friends and relatives. Subsequently, complainant and his friends paid an amount of Rs. 60 lakh to the aforesaid accused and co-accused Parvez and Mohammad Yousaf in the shape of cheques and cash, and the accused assured the complainant and other people that they will provide job to their children in government department and will provide order to all the candidates from whom they have taken money. The accused in connivance with the officials of the police department called the candidates for physical measurement and medical check-up which was done in presence of the Senior Police Officials and verification report was also dispatched to the concerned police stations for character verification in the police department as well as in different departments. The complainant thereafter pressurised the accused to provide employment to the candidates or return back the amount. However, the accused neither returned the money nor provided job to any of the candidates and committed fraud and also cheated the complainant and committed forgery.

Sub-Judge Jammu Kusum Pandita after hearing Senior Prosecuting Officer Puja Nijohn with Inspector Parvez Sajjad for the State observed that offences allegedly committed by the accused under Sections 467, 468 and 420 RPC are serious in nature and by committing such offenses accused have shuttered the faith of the complainant and other people who allegedly paid the amount to the accused. “Since the accused have committed very serious offences which carry punishment for imprisonment of life as well and since the investigation is also in progress, therefore, accused does not deserve the concession of bail at this stage”, the court observed and rejected the bail application.
