EPSRC Research Fellow in Bioprocessing and Analytics for T-Cell Immunotherapies

The appointment will be on UCL Grade 7. The salary range will be £34,635 – £39,644 per annum, inclusive of London Allowance.

We are seeking to recruit a proactive, collaborative, dedicated, well organised, highly motivated, and driven Postdoctoral Research Associate (PDRA) to join the Advanced Therapy Bioprocessing Group and lead the T-cell immunotherapy bioprocessing and analytics research on the OMMS project at UCL. The PDRA, under the supervision of Dr Qasim Rafiq, will be responsible for developing cell culture processes for T-cell immunotherapy applications and identifying novel and innovative ways of redefining these processes for a microfactory platform. This will include understanding the fundamental biology as well as simplifying and optimising the isolation of T-cells in addition to their upstream/downstream processing, characterisation and cell analysis.

This post is available for 30 months in the first instance.

PhD awarded (or about to be) in a relevant subject. This may include biological sciences, cell biology or immunology disciplines, biotechnology or biochemical engineering with relevance to cell culture, bioprocessing and analytics, and an interest in developing an understanding of how to control T-cell fate in novel platform technologies. Training and experience in working with primary T-cells, including their isolation, expansion and analysis. Experience with cell characterisation assays including flow cytometry, ELISA, qPCR and other relevant assays for T-cell culture.
