Firefighters respond to a blaze in Colonie Sunday Dec. 17, 2017, at Chesebro Drive. The home was unoccupied at the time of the fire.

A single-family home in Colonie was destroyed by a fire Sunday evening.

No one was home when firefighters arrived to fight the blaze at 17 Chesebro Drive, said Midway Fire Chief Robert Sammons. A 911 call was received around 9 p.m. and the fire was contained in one hour.

One firefighter was being treated at the scene for chest pains.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
