The capital’s development agency slapped Mastermind with a Tk 500,000 in fine in a drive headed by RAJUK Executive Magistrate Jasmine Akter and Authorised Officer Ashraful Islam at Garib-e-Newaz Avenue of Sector 13 on Sunday.

Jasmine told bdnews24.com that they served Mastermind with a notice in mid-2017 to relocate its branch in Uttara or get permission to run commercial operations by giving fees.

The school was given time as the relocation would harm the students if it had taken place in the middle of the year.

“But the school authorities didn’t follow our instruction,” Jasmine said.

The school authorities have been asked to relocate the branch within 15 days.

According to Jasmine, the avenue has been declared commercial, but the building owners need to take permission to run commercial operations.

But the building housing the Mastermind branch was built in breach of the plan approved by the RAJUK, and so the school must relocate, she said.

The owner of another building at the avenue was fined Tk 500,000 for renting floors to commercial entities.

First Security Islami Bank was fined Tk 50,000 for running a branch at the building. The RAJUK asked it to move its premises within 15 days if the owner failed to get the permission by this period.

The RAJUK fined Lubana General Hospital Tk 1 million and gave it 15 days to relocate.

The hospital was also using the avenue to park cars.

The owner of the building housing an AB Bank branch was fined Tk 500,000. The RAJUK fined the bank Tk 50,000 and asked it to relocate within 15 days.
