Mandate 2017: Development won over dynasty and polarisation, says Amit Shah
Amid celebrations at the BJP headquarters after the party won the Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh election, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president Amit Shah congratulated the people of both the states for expressing faith in the politics of performance by Narendra Modi.

He said that the people of Gujarat have rejected the politics of caste, dynasty and vote bank being practised by the Congress and instead voted for the politics of development.

The BJP chief attributed the win to the policies of the BJP government for the welfare of the poor.

Focusing on the transformation in the nature of democracy, Shah said that people now vote for those who talk about development.

Shah said that an increase in vote share of the BJP from 47.85% in 2012 Assembly elections to 49.10% in the 2017 Assembly elections shows that BJP's popularity has risen among people.

Accusing the Congress of outsourcing the elections and diverting it towards caste, the BJP president said that the verdict is a befitting reply to Congress from the people of Gujarat.

He also thanked the people of Himachal Pradesh for giving the BJP a major victory and said that the people of the state have shown faith in the Narendra Modi-led BJP government's politics of development.
