Frequent elections affect devpt: CM

| Dec 19, 2017, 03:25 IST
Panaji: All types of polls should be held parallel to one another to save time and money and to reduce the impact of imposition of frequent code of conducts on developmental works, chief minister Manohar Parrikar said on Monday.

"That is what I believe and that is the party's view. Recently, Venkaiah Naidu also stated the same. Having elections every other day means that code of conduct is imposed every second day. This affects development work. So, if all elections are held together, the expenditure will be lower and time wasted by the code of conduct will be reduced. It doesn't mean it will happen tomorrow, but a discussion should build up towards it. The parliament will have to make constitutional changes for this," he said.tnn
