DHAKA: Police recovered the body of a marine engineer from an under-construction building in city’s Shukrabad area under Sher-e-Bangla Nagar on Monday morning (Dec 18).
The deceased was identified as Rafiqul Hasan Rimon, 32.
Security personnel of the building discovered the hanging body in the morning and informed police.
New Market Police Sub-Inspector (SI) Mahbubur Rahman told Banglanews that Rimon went missing after he dropped off his wife and children at home in the evening on December 16. Later he made no contact with his family. His cell phone was found switched-on but he never received any calls.
Police sources said Rimon had some conflict with his friend Tutul regarding a flat that they bought jointly of an under-construction building in 15 Shukrabad area.
Deputy Commissioner (DC) Maruf Hossain Sardar of DMP's Ramna division told Banglanews that based on primary investigation, it seems to be a murder, not suicide.
After visiting the spot, no traces of suicide were found. However, a careful investigation is underway, the DC said.
