Nagpur: 'Jeena issi ka naam hain', a special musical programme in memory of legendary actor-director
Raj Kapoor, mesmerized the audience on Sunday. The programme was organized by Kanak Sur Mandir at Sai Sabhagruha.
Director Datta Harkare took charge of the show along with his daughter Kanaka by singing the national anthem. Singers of the evening were Prakash Kulkarni, Deepak Ammen, Sanjay Karmakar, Sadanand Bhave, Nilay Banore and others.
Several super-hit numbers from the actor's movies such as 'Mera juta hain japani', 'Sab kuch seekha humne', 'Mera naam Raju' etc were beautifully performed by the vocalists. The show ended by the rendition of 'Sajan re jhoot mat bolo' from movie 'Teesri Kasam'.
The show was made all the more interesting by a video clip which was shown in remembrance of the cinematic genius Raj Kapoor which made the atmosphere a bit nostalgic for the viewers.
One of the visitant Dr Archana Dadha said, "Harkare is known for providing a platform to his students and presenting any programme in an innovative way. My favorite song of Raj Kapoor sir 'Bol radha bol' made me feel lively during the show."
Sonali Mandavgade, a friend of Harkare, said, "As a
music lover and singer myself, Raj Kapoor's
songs make my feet to tap. I have been following Harkare's shows for the last 4 years and he is absolutely amazing. I am glad a show was organized in memory of one of my favourite actors."
Shekhar Darwhekar said, "Good attempt by all singers as they made the event joyful for all age groups. It was evident that every participant took rigorous efforts to perform their best. Harkare as their mentor was present on the stage to encourage them. Effort by Sadanand Bhave and Dilip Deshmukh, the seniormost members, was praiseworth."
