Buyers want Jaypee probe to be given to CBI

Noida: Nearly eight months after 222 homebuyers of Jaypee Wish Town lodged an FIR at Sector 135 police station against Jaiprakash Associates and Jaypee Infratech, the buyers have written to chief minister Yogi Adityanath, seeking transfer of the investigation to the CBI.

In the letter, the buyers have sought the details of action taken on the FIR registered in April this year under sections 420, 406, 467, 468, 471 and 120B of IPC.

"Only 7,000 flats have been handed over at Wish Town out of the total 35,000 flats and plots. At present, 25,000 handovers are approximately pending. By our estimate, nearly Rs 18,000 crore has been deposited with the builder by the 35,000 buyers. Even though 25,000 apartments are pending completion, we demand an investigation into the financial misappropriation of the buyers' funds by the company. We have written to the chief minister stating that if the scope of this investigation is beyond the capacity of the local police, it should be transferred to the CBI," Krishan Mitroo, head of nine homebuyers' associations of Jaypee Wish Town, said.

SSP, Gautam Budh Nagar, Love Kumar said: "Investigation is in progress but because of the multiplicity of complaints, paperwork and documentation could be pending. The perspectives of National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT) resolving the insolvency case against the builder and the Supreme Court proceedings cannot be ignored in the process of our investigation as well."

Meanwhile, in the ongoing NCLT proceedings of insolvency against Jaypee, the insolvency resolution professional (IRP) Anuj Jain has responded to queries by homebuyers of Wish Town on December 13 with an assurance that all valid suggestions by buyers and relevant parties have been included in the insolvency resolution which he has submitted.
