Employee benefits provider Sodexo has partnered with Swiggy, reports ANI. With this, Swiggy users can use Sodexo Meal Cards to pay for the food order. The news agency also reports that the partnership will help Sodexo to expand its customer base, and increase digital acceptance of if meal cards.

Sodexo has been partnering with various digital platforms to expand its digital presence. Note that, in March, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) released draft guidelines for meal vouchers which said that they cannot be issued in paper form anymore and will have to move to digital means.

Sodexo has been increasing its partnerships in recent times as it moves away from paper vouchers and increases its acceptance of its Meal Card. Note that the Meal Card can be only used for ordering food and non-alcoholic beverages. It has been updating its back-end operations to ensure that only these items can be ordered.

-Last month, it partnered with Bangalore-based Goodbox, which allow employees to use Sodexo Meal cards while ordering food at workplaces.

-In October, it partnered with online grocery delivery startup Grofers where users can use the meal card for payments. It also introduced IVR-based payments for Grofers as well. Sodexo says that it has about 11,000 clients and more than 3 million daily consumers across 1,500 cities in India.

-In June, it tied-up with point-of-sale (POS) terminal deploying company Innoviti Payments Solutions to expand the network of outlets.

-In May, the company partnered with PoS provider Mswipe to make Sodexo’s Meal Card valid at some Mswipe merchants like grocery stores, restaurants, cafes and food delivery services. Manish Patel, CEO of Mswipe, told MediaNama that more than 30,000 merchants will be able to use Sodexo’s meal card in the first phase.

-It also partnered with fellow meal card provider Zeta in the same month to offer solutions to manage medical, fuel, leave and travel allowances for employees.
