In addition to his message - which included a laughing emoji - he posted an image of himself in body paint and wearing an NBA kit.
Griezmann's tweet has sparked huge criticism and prompted accusations of racism.

Following the backlash, Griezmann tweeted saying: “Calm down guys, I'm fan of the Harlem globetrotters and the good times... it's a tribute.”
He then followed up by saying: "I agree that it's awkward for me.
"If I hurt some people excuse me."

Griezmann is expected to leave Atletico in the summer.
