It will be bone-chilling cold on Christmas morning, but nothing Santa can’t handle.

The next big question is whether it will be a white Christmas. The answer is a big maybe.

A white Christmas means the ground is covered with snow.

Snowfall is possible Thursday through Saturday and it will be cold enough through Christmas to keep the snow from melting, according to the National Weather Service in Boulder.

Before the frosty weekend, temperatures will be above normal Monday through Wednesday with highs in the mid 50s to lower 60s.

Then a polar blast will drop the temperature almost in half on Thursday, when there is a 30 percent chance of snow, the NWS says. The high temperature will be around 33 degrees.

It’s will be mostly sunny on Friday with a high of around 31 degrees. Snow is possible Friday night and Saturday.

On Christmas Eve the high is expected to reach 16 degrees — brrrrr.

“Cold will persist through Christmas,” the NWS says.
