Also, election officials have said the main opposition DMK has filed a case in the court alleging malpractices with an intention to stop the by-poll. "The Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam has been painting a picture that eacn ahd every voter is being bribed," they said and added that all steps have been taken to ensure free and fair election.



Meanwhile, an EC statement here today said the poll body has directed that all electors, who have been issued EPIC, have to produce the Elector’s Photo Identity Card for their identification at the polling station before casting their votes.

"Those electors who are not able to produce the EPIC shall produce one of the following alternative photo identity documents for establishing their identity," it said and added that things such as  passport, driving license, service identity cards with photograph issued to employees by central/state government PSUs/public limited companies, passbooks with photograph issued by bank/post office and PAN card etc.

"The Commission has also directed that Authenticated Photo Voters Slip shall be distributed to all electors before the poll day," it said. It is also clarified that if any elector uses an EPIC, which has been issued by the Electoral Registration Officer of another Assembly Constituency, such cards shall also be taken into account provided the name of that elector finds place in the electoral roll pertaining to the polling station.
