Nagpur: Not ones to make noises about the lack of opportunities in Nagpur, the talented youth of the city are now making it a part of their work canvas and enjoying the experience of doing so.
In a first-of-its-kind initiative, city singer Shrinidhi
Ghatate released her maiden music single recently which has been shot completely in Nagpur. The over four-minute video, which has been composed by guitarist
Taba Chake, has been shot by another Nagpurian, cinematographer Daksh Chadha. The song 'Bas teri raha' has been penned and sung by Ghatate.
Released on November 25 the video has already received over 8,000 hits on YouTube. "I was introduced to Taba Chake, a guitarist and composer, by the music label who have produced the video," Ghatate told
TOI. "We were jamming together in Delhi and got to composing and developing this song together," she adds.
The music video is about a girl and her great fondness for her pet dog. As she is returning home she is remembering her pet and the memories of how the two have enjoyed playing with each other. "The story speaks of the unconditional love between a dog and its owner and is very different from the cliched love stories that are usually the subject of such feel good videos," she says.
Speaking about his collaboration with Ghatate, Daksh Chadha who recently completed a filmmaking course in Paris says, "I saw her cover version of the song 'Ye moh moh ke dhaage' on Instagram. I mailed her saying I would like to make a video with her. This was a couple of months back. We met in Mumbai and discussed it and since both of us are from Nagpur we decide to shoot it here."
Scouting for locations for three days, Daksh says that he wanted to shoot near the
Gorewada Lake but couldn't get permission. "I had first decided upon walker's street but it is tough to get permission to shoot there. Since I needed tall dry grass for this video I selected locations at
Umred Road." Terming Nagpur as a film friendly city, Chadha says that it took him just two days to complete the shoot. "I have a production house and a crew of ten people in the city. I feel we have been able to capture the mood of the song and the feel of the city too."
