Although the Texans lost for the seventh time in their past eight games, wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins' All-Pro and Pro Bowl candidacy took another step.

Hopkins caught his 12th touchdown of the season, breaking his own franchise single-season record he established during the 2015 season. Hopkins accomplished the feat despite playing with three different quarterbacks this season.

"I feel like I could have had more touchdowns this year," Hopkins said. "My record is what it is, but I've always put the team first and it's a team sport. With our record is what it is, it's hard to enjoy this."

Hopkins continued his spirited rivalry with talented Jacksonville Jaguars cornerback Jalen Ramsey, beating him for a 40-yard touchdown to keep the Texans from being shut out. Hopkins finished the game with four receptions for 80 yards, but it took 13 targets to put up the numbers.

"I love playing against that guy, and he's going to be one of the best one day," Hopkins said of Ramsey. "When I scored the touchdown I could see in his face that he was hurt. And that's what you want from a young player like that. Even though they were up by a lot of points he takes it to the heart. I'm going to look forward to competing against him in the future."

The Jaguars' second-ranked pass defense made the Texans pay with one interception for their tendency to throw to Hopkins as safety Barry Church picked off Yates. He got help from former Texans cornerback A.J. Bouye.

"It was a great disguise," Church said. "I looked like I was playing blitz and then A.J. did an unbelievable job of jamming up Hopkins at the line of scrimmage. We knew they were going to force-feed him. If you were on that side, you had an opportunity to make a play and I was able to capitalize."
