Ganjam book fair inaugurated
Brahmapur: The 12th Ganjam Book Fair was inaugurated by local MLA Ramesh Chandra Chaupatnaik here on Sunday. The fair is organised by the Ganjam District Book Fair Samiti. The fair would continue till December 23 in which booksellers from many districts have put up their stalls. The fair is held under the chairmanship of Samiti president Alekh Choudhury. Among others, Brahmapur University PG Council Chairman Prof Devi Prasanna Patnaik, BDA Chairman Subash Moharana, samiti general secretary Bhawani Sankar Panigrahi, Devi Prasad Saha, Gopal Krushna Sakua, Narayan Mahakudu and Dr Lambodar Panigrahi were present.
B’pur lawyer’s house theft: 3 more held
Brahmapur: The Gosaninuagaon police have arrested three more accused involved in the lawyer Sisir Padhy’s house theft case. The arrested were identified as Rinku Patnaik of Tata Colony, Nrusingha Nayak of Ankoli and Saroj Sahu of Khandia Kumuti Street. Police seized Rs 1 lakh, 25 grams of gold, five mobiles, four bikes were seized from them. All the accused have other cases pending against them at other police stations. With this, a total of nine persons were arrested in the case. Notably, miscreants had stolen away hard cash and gold ornaments on gunpoint from the lawyer’s house o n October 27, 2017.
Sishu Mandir students excel in scholarship
Brahmapur: Students of Classes-III and V of the Nilakantha Nagar Saraswati Sishu Bidya Mandir have excelled in the Government junior scholarship. Four students of Class-III and three of Class-V have been selected for the scholarship. They are Sneha Srita Panda, Samikhya Patro, Manaswini Padhy, Harshita Samal of Class-III and Saswata Sahu, Subhasree Padhy and Srimaya Patro of Class-V. Headmaster S Mohan Acharya, Uma Madhav Mohanty, school managing committee VP Dr Balakrushna Chaudhury, secretary Sudarsan Padhy, joint secretary Mamata Panigrahi, treasurer B Gajapati Rao, Dr Srikanta Mohapatra and other members have congratulated the qualified students.
GKEL holds safety exhibition
Bhubaneswar: The GMR Kamalanga Energy Limited (GKEL) established a permanent nature safety exhibition named Surakshya Vihar, which would help build safety awareness and safety induction of workers in the plant. It showcases a complete range of industrial safety equipment, firefighting equipment and personal protective equipment. Dhenkanal assistant director (Factory and Boiler) Bibhu Prasad inaugurating it praised the GKEL EHS department for organising such a useful exhibition. Among others, GKEL COO Ramesh R Pai and head (O and M) Arabinda Pani were present.
