The European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL) is one of the highest ranked scientific research organisations worldwide. The Headquarters Laboratory is located in Heidelberg (Germany), with additional sites in Barcelona (Spain), Grenoble (France), Hamburg (Germany), Hinxton near Cambridge (UK), Rome (Italy).
The EMBL Grenoble Site has an active research program in structural and molecular biology, making use of synchrotron radiation facilities (ESRF and EMBL@PETRA-III) and electron microscopy platforms available at different EMBL sites. In this context, the instrumentation team recruits a technician/junior engineer. Under the responsibility of the team leader and in coordination with the members of the team, the selected candidate will participate in the development of scientific instruments. The assigned tasks will range from the development of analog and digital interfaces to the integration of motion control electronics, PLCs and industrial robots. Testing, installing and supporting new and existing instruments in Grenoble or at other EMBL sites will also be parts of the duties.Qualifications and Experience
The candidates should have a university degree in electronics, mechatronics or an equivalent qualification. They should have trained in electronic CAD design (Schematics, programmable logic) and PLC progaming. Knowledge in physics would be appreciated. We expect the candidates to have proven experience in electronics. Familiarity with motion control and industrial programming languages would be a plus. We wish to recruit a self-motivated candidate, well organised, able to work on his/her own initiative and as part of a team, and that appreciates working in an international research environment. The capacity to reach the assigned objectives and to meet deadlines will be essential.Application Instructions
