PUNE: As Christmas preparations gain pace in the city, work on a walk-in crib at
St Patrick's Cathedral is underway. It will be opened for visitors on December 24.
"Five major scenes from Jesus's life will be depicted across an area of 5,000 square feet. Most of the mannequins used in the scenes have been designed by city-based artists. Many of them volunteered for the job," said Father Wilfred of St Patrick's Cathedral.
Christmas celebrations at the Cathedral began on Saturday with carol singing sessions joined by 14 choirs from the city.
"We have choirs coming from
Vadagaonsheri to Pimpri Chinchwad," Father Wilfred said.
A Christmas bazaar has also been set up at the Cathedral premises. People can choose from a whole range of festive goodies at the market till 8pm today.
"Decorative items and home-made sweets will be up for sale at the bazaar," he added.
A Christmas float on the theme of family will visit several parts of the city including Magarpatta, Camp, B T
Kawade Road and
Salunke Road on December 22.
To spread the festive vibe, youths from the Cathedral will go around singing in the city from December 18 to 23.
