BJP stir at DM offices from Dec 20

The BJP would stage protest meetings in front of all district Collectors for three days from December 20 to 22 against sine die of the State Assembly ahead of scheduled 13 days.

“Important issues relating to farmers, youths, women and contractual employees would have been discussed in the Assembly. However, it was declared sine die ahead of 13 scheduled days. The State Government has turned out to be an escapist. We will continue fighting for the interest of all sections of people,” said BJP State president Basant Panda.

He said MLAs were keen to discuss a number of issues pertaining to the interest of the State and its people, but the Government was apparently not prepared to face criticism.

“It is unfortunate that the State Government chose to avoid deliberations on farmer and firming issues when many peasants have committed suicide due to crop loss caused by pest attack and unseasonal rains,” alleged Panda.

He said acute unemployment has hit the youth, which could have been discussed the Treasury Bench allowed the House to run as per the schedule.

“The BJD Government must realise that the people are not going to allow it to escape. They want an explanation from the Government about its non-performance during the last 18 years,” he said.

Panda said that his party would fight to see that the huge money collected as penalties for illegal mining are properly utilised for the benefit and development of all categories of people in the State.
