CHENNAI: City police on Saturday arrested two engineering students for allegedly kidnapping a medical aspirant as she refused to accept the proposal of one of the duo.

Police said A Praveen Kumar (23) of Vadapalani was arrested along with his friend Surendar of Anna Nagar, who helped the former kidnap the girl.

“Praveen had befriended an 18-year-old girl on Facebook and both exchanged numbers. Recently, he proposed to her, but she rejected and avoided  him. Angered by this, Praveen decided to kidnap the girl and sought help from his friend “ said the police.

“On Thursday the girl was returning home from a coaching class when Praveen intercepted her and was talking to her. A few minutes later, Surendar came in a car and Praveen kidnapped her and took her to former’s house.

Praveen kept threatening her to accept his proposal and tried to misbehave with her. After the victim threatened to inform her parents, the duo dropped her off at Tirumangalam and escaped,” the police added.
A complaint was lodged by the Tirumangalam police who arrested the duo
